Cookie Rabinowitz
Cookie Rabinowitz makes music for people who feel like they're on the outside looking in. The square. The one who doesn't quite fit. If you've ever loved something so deeply it made you feel weird - this is for you.
He calls his sound "Four Eye'd Soul" - a twist on Philly's blue-eyed soul tradition. Rooted in Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Sly Stone, filtered through guitar heroes and 90s R&B, it's something personal. Not retro, not nostalgic - just honest.
After a fire destroyed his home and studio, Cookie rebuilt from scratch and kept making music. He also built the Dough-Jo - a place where listeners can connect with the songs and stories directly, outside the algorithm. Not everyone needs that. But for those who want more than passive streaming, it's there.
Cookie is signed to GangStirRock Records, founded by Orlando Jones and distributed by KMG. The two connected years ago through an animated series project; when Orlando launched his label, he asked Cookie to join. "I don't need a label," Cookie says, "but I love the idea of a music family."
When he's not in his home studio, Cookie DJs at a small strip club in Center City Philadelphia. He's more comfortable behind a guitar than making small talk - so his songs speak for him.
